Application of single pan thermal analysis to Cu–Sn peritectic alloys

چکیده
Single pan thermal analyses (SPTA) have been performed on Cu–14.5 wt.% Sn, Cu–21.3 wt.% Sn and Cu–26.8 wt.% Sn peritectic alloys. For this purpose, a SPTA assembly has been built and calibrated. As the latent heat is a function of temperature and composition during solidification of alloys, a new heat flow model coupled to a Cu–Sn thermodynamic database has been defined for the calculation of the corresponding evolutions of the solid mass fraction, fsðT Þ. To verify the accuracy of this model, a close comparison with a microsegregation model that includes back-diffusion in the primary a-solid phase has also been conducted successfully. The thermal analyses have finally shown that the Cu–Sn phase diagram recently assessed in the review of Liu et al. is the most reliable. 2007 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Competition of the primary and peritectic phases in hypoperitectic Cu–Sn alloys solidified at low speed in a diffusive regime
Directional solidification experiments on hypoperitectic Cu–Sn alloys have been performed at very low velocity in a high thermal gradient to ensure planar front growth of both phases. The diameter of the sample has been reduced to 500 lm to strongly reduce convection. Lamellar and fibrous peritectic cooperative growth of the primary aand peritectic b-phases has been observed on length spanning ...
متن کاملTHERMAL ANALYSIS OF Ag-Cu-In-Sn SYSTEM
In this paper, the results of DSC analysis in Ag-Cu-In-Sn system are presented. Ten samples from the section with constant molar ratio (In:Ag:Cu=7:2:1) were investigated in order to obtain characteristic temperatures of each alloy. The results confirmed the influence of indium on thermal behaviour of these alloys.

The effect of heat treatment and alloying elements of copper and tin on the microstructure and mechanical properties of austempered ductile cast iron alloys is investigated. The austenitizing temperature of 890°C, the isothermal transformation (austempering) temperatures of 285, 335 and 375°C, and austempering times of 15, 30, 75 and 150 minutes are studied. The alloying elements of copper and ...
متن کاملInfluence of the thermal history and composition on the melting/solidification process in Sn-Ag-Cu solders
Presented work shows the results of DSC measurement for six Sn based solders. The alloys Sn96Ag4, Sn99Cu1, Sn97Cu3, Sn96.5Ag3Cu0.5, Sn95.5Ag3.8Cu0.7 and Sn63Pb37 were studied in the temperature range from room temperature up to 400◦C. The transformation temperatures for melting as well as for solidification were influenced by the composition and thermal history of the alloys. The thermal histor...

In order to better understand the detachment mechanism of secondary dendrite arm during peritectic solidification, the detachment of secondary dendrite arm from the primary dendrite arms in directionally solidified Sn-36at.%Ni peritectic alloys is investigated at different deceleration rates. Extensive detachment of secondary dendrite arms from primary stem is observed below peritectic reaction...
